From Career Woman to Full-Time Mama

I never thought I’d be the type of person to start a blog, but something about the chaos and beauty of motherhood pushed me to share my heart. Between diaper changes, picky eaters, and late-night laundry, I’ve found a quiet strength in homemaking—and I wanted a space to share that with you.

If you had asked me years ago where I thought I’d be, being a stay-at-home mom would have never crossed my mind. I’ve been working since I was 16, and for most of my life, working was all I knew. The daily grind, the hustle, the satisfaction of earning my own way—it was a big part of my identity.

Then I met my husband, and along with him came two beautiful little girls. I fell in love with them instantly, but at that time, I was still working and back in school. I didn’t see how much my life was about to change—not just because I became a stepmom, but because my entire future was shifting.

Choosing a Different Path

When I became pregnant with my first son, I assumed I’d go back to work. Like many moms, I planned to put him in daycare and keep on with life as usual. But when the time came, I couldn’t go through with it. My heart pulled me in a different direction. And that’s when I made the decision to stay home with my boys.

It wasn’t the plan I envisioned, but I’m grateful for it every single day.

The Reality of Stay-at-Home Mom Life

Being a stay-at-home mom is a blessing—but I won’t lie, it’s tough. I’m still learning how to manage it all. The never-ending to-do lists, juggling housework, cooking, laundry, errands, and raising two active little boys—it can feel overwhelming.

There are days where I struggle, where I feel like I’m stretched too thin. Just keeping up can be exhausting. And then, at the beginning of this year, my world shifted again.

Autism, Acceptance, and Growth

My 4-year-old was diagnosed with autism. That diagnosis brought a whole new layer of challenges I wasn’t prepared for. Navigating meltdowns, managing nonverbal communication, and learning how to meet his unique needs has been a daily journey.

Some days are harder than others. It can feel isolating and overwhelming, but I’m learning—slowly but surely—how to support him in the best way I can. I’m not perfect, and some days I feel like I’m barely holding it together. But I’ve grown in ways I never imagined.

I’ve learned it’s okay to ask for help. That self-care matters, even when I’m pouring so much into others. And that this messy, beautiful, chaotic life we’re building is something to be proud of.

Why This Blog Exists

And that’s why I started Simply Homemade Home—to create a space where I could be honest about the highs and lows of motherhood and homemaking.

A space for real talk, not perfection.

I don’t have all the answers, and I’m not a Pinterest-perfect mom. Some days we eat leftovers. Some days the laundry wins. But I’ve found so much beauty in the ordinary moments. The snuggles after a long day, the bedtime giggles, the quiet sigh when everyone is finally asleep.

This Space Is for You, Too

This blog is for the mamas doing their best. For the moms who feel unseen. For the women who carry so much, yet still show up every single day.

Here, you’ll find:

Honest stories from my journey
Practical homemaking tips that keep me afloat
Our favorite dairy-free and gluten-free meals
Encouragement for moms of kids with unique needs
A reminder that you’re never alone in this

Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom, a working mom, a stepmom, or someone just trying to build a home full of love—there’s a place for you here.

Thank You for Being Here

I’m so grateful you’ve stopped by. I’m still figuring it out as I go, but I’m glad we get to do this together.

With love,
